Paniyaram/Appe is a South Indian breakfast recipe. Appe are usually made with dosa batter(fermented rice batter) which is indeed a time consuming process.I have made this recipe with semolina which makes this recipe quick and instant.It is a very tasty and healthy recipe.One should definitely try out this recipe ,it is perfect for breakfast, teatime snack and can be given to children in their lunchbox.

Step 1: Ingredients
5.Finely Chopped coriander leaves
7.Finely Chopped tomato
8.Finely Chopped green chilies
9.Finely Chopped ginger
10.Finely Chopped onions
Step 2: Prepare the Base of the Batter
1.Take a bowl
2.Put 1 cup semolina
3.Add 3/4 cup curd
4.Add 1/2 spoon salt
After adding all the ingredients mix them together.
NOTE-Your cup size might vary with mine so keep the proportions intact.If you take 1 cup semolina then add curd equal to 3/4 of your cup.
Step 3: Maintain Consistency
Add some water and mix it together.I have used only 1/2 cup water throughout the recipe, I have just added from the same 1/2 cup water at different instants.
Step 4: Add the Veggies
1.Add finely chopped coriander leaves.
2.Add curry leaves .
3.Add finely chopped tomatoes.
And mix these together ,then add the remaining water and mix them well.
Step 5: Prepare the Onions
1.Take a pan
2.Heat some oil.
3.Add mustard seeds and wait till they start popping.
4.Add finely chopped green chilies.
5.Add finely chopped ginger.
6.Add the finely chopped onions.
Step 6: Saute the Onions
After adding the onions saute them well on low flame.
Step 7: Mixing
Add the sauteed onions and to the batter and mix them in the batter.Now leave the batter to rest aside for 15-20 min.
Step 8: Fermentation
Add 1/4 spoon baking soda to the batter and mix it well in the batter.
Step 9: Prepare the Pan
Put the appe pan on medium flame and heat the oil .
Step 10: Pour the Batter
Pour the batter in the molds and cover it with a lid or plate and let the appe simmer for 1 minute.
Step 11: Simmer
After one minute turn the appe around to cook them for the other side as well .After turning them cover it again with a lid and cook them for another 1 minute.
Step 12: Serving
After the one minute serve them fresh and hot accompany them along with your favorite ketchup or dip.
