    Morphing Digital Clock

Tried the latest code and I can verify it working on the esp-12E module. However, it flickers too much and is very dim.I am okay with using my other boards that work and maybe you might not want to spend a whole lot of time on it.Next step for me is making a nice oak cabinet.I will post a pic when done.Thank you for the project.

Followed your advice and compiling fine.I think there is still a problem with the 12/24hr fix.At 2:44pm it shows 02:45:20 which is correct for 12 hour format. However, it is in night dim mode with the moon and 2 stars in place of the weather icon. When you resolve that, I would like to suggest not having the moon and 2 stars for night mode, just dim the display. Because, if I wake up at night and look over at the clock, it would be nice to know if it's raining, snowing, etc. One final note.I notice that when it is showing "connecting" and "online" the "n" looks like "m".I feel like I am nitpicking, but I would just like to see the code to be the best it can be.By the way, thank for your sharing and help. I hope my input adds some value to yourproject.

Working now. Nice!I am not a programmer, but was wondering if the items below can be altered. How often does it update the weather? Is this configurable? Is it possible to change the temp from metric to imperial?Change date to month, day, year?Include "Windy" or "Wind" in mph and direction? (could probably shorten the year 2018 to 18 to make some room for it).Noticed two things: Time numbers are off center to the right.(1st digit starts at column 10 and last digit ends at column 61).At one point, time froze for about 5-6 seconds and then started at the right time again.(froze at 31 secs for 5-6 secs then went to 36-37 secs) just saw it once though.Thank you for sharing.

    1. Yes, I can connect using wifiManager.autoConnect(AutoConnectAP");2. Yes, I can connect using wifiManager.autoConnect("MorphClk","HariFun");

I like it! Great job!Are you sharing all of the code to get the weather, date, etc.?I would like to try it.

I didn't have the chance to try the code with the home credentials yet.But the good news is that I can confirm the new boards that JonathanT165 used work!!!!!!!Now to try and figure out what the difference is between the Robot-Dyn boards andthe boards fromhttps://www.ebay.com/itm/121847800751.Other than the esp8266 piggybacked on these boards.

    Tried the hotfixes.... no change.

Good to know. So, it's not neccessary to have a 32mb esp8266 board? The one you show is only 4mb.I just received 3 more brds. from Amazon of the same type I am having problems with. They will be going back unless HariFun can figure out why they are different and don't work. You will notice the ones we have that don't work have the esp8266 circuit part of the main board and the one you said that works has a piggyback esp8266 board on the main board.

    No change.

    Didn't do anything for me.

May I make a suggestion. Those of you who have this working, could you please review the problems and setups we have, and compare them to yours. Let us know board mfg/type, library version, arduino version, arduino setup, or anything that could help us solve this problem. Thank You B0SC0

    Any luck yet?

Great video. Thanks for that.I only get to the point of resetting connecting > AP: MorphClk.....etc.I check on my android phone and android tablet and MorphClk never shows up.So I never have the opportunity to connect to it.Check the pic below to see what variant I am talking about.

OK It's back to compiling and uploading. However, AP still a no go.What about that IwIP Variant setting. Like I said I tried all 4 options and it didn't makea difference.

update 2:This is what is in my lib folder(see pic).Removing those two arduino folders and the arduinojson folder results in errors compiling,so I put them back.appdata folder remains the same as before(pic above).

Update:Your new code works to get the entire message on the display correctly. As far as the AP is concerned, I haven't tried the minimal libs yet, but will.Good news about the spaces between the letters. It turns out to be the 8266.I received a 2nd one today and the display was correct. I then took a hot air pencil to the bad 8266 to reflow the solder a bit on the pcb. That fixed that 8266.However, both 8266's still do not have the AP working. So, I will try the libs you mentioned tonight.Getting there.......

If you could, compare my setup pics with your setup.Maybe we can find the problem that way.By the way, I do appreciate all the time you are spending on helping me.

Checked all my wires, they all ohm out good.It appears that all the hardware is okay. And your code is okay.It has to be something with the setup in Arduino 1.8.5 and it's libraries.

Yes, I have both 2.4 and 5.8ghz.I do receive "HTTP server" started as shown above.I scan and refresh my wifi search(phone and laptop), but still no MorphClk.It almost seems like the wifi on the 8266 is not working.I am using this 8266 from amazon:RobotDyn - 1 PCS - Compact NodeMCU V3 Lua WIFI module integration of ESP8266 + extra memory 32Mb flash, USB-serial CH340GBoth blue leds on it are lit. Also, my display is showing only every other row when lit and part of the text is missing ex; MorphCl (no k showing) and 192.168.4. (1 not showing).see pic

Okay, this is what I have done so far.Tried powering 8266 with 5vdc 1@amp adapter. no changeDisplay is powered with 5vdc@2.6amp adapter. no changeChecked wiring for the 15th time, everything looks good after switching over to another new panel Same results as before.Uploaded example of wifi ap server. Worked as it should. Positive now that wifi is okay on the 8266.Uploaded pixeltime. Same problem with display as before. Also noticed that your password is only 7 characters long, If I to try to add the network manually , connect button is grayed out because it needs an 8th character.I added the 8th character and was able to enable the connect button. but still no go finding MorphClk.So, my question is : why would you have the program ignore the password if it is wrong and continue. It just doesn't show up in the wireless network scan.Any help?
