How to Write an Instructable
Very fine results. It happens I have an antique mower deck needing patches. I will bring it to a welder but now I know how to shape the plate beforehand. Thanks for the Instructable.
Very nice work and clever solutions to problems as they arise. Hope your hand heals in a few weeks.I was concerned about the raw foam because in my experience it does warp and sag especially in hot weather. However, you are cladding the inside with thin wood and cladding the outside. Now it is similar to a Structural Insulated Panel, or SIP. I will follow your experiment.
120V is possible. I prefer the safer 12V. There are few code restrictions for low voltage. When you get to 120V all kinds of national and local codes and laws are involved, for very good reasons. In the near future I except many more houses will be wired for dual voltage, low for LED lighting and electronics, high for power units - refrigerators, air conditioners, blenders, saws. You are simply ahead of the times.
Good idea using double-stick tape. I will use your idea to mount LED strip lights above the model train layout. A computer power supply provides 5V for accessories and 12V for the LED lights.
Wonderful! It inspires many other designs. Much better than teh commercial plastic human figure pierced with knives.
The best improvement (IMHO) is using Al T-slot material for the tracks. It is easier than pipe to make slides, not rollers. The saw only contacts the top so you can add stiffeners to the side to keep it absolutely straight. It has flat surfaces for attaching to the framing. LOTS of advantages. Going to build one in the next month.
teeny tiny suggestion - add a screw hook (not loop) near the top to support the power cord so it does not drape over the work.

Excellent way to make the sled. I will do this. Also learned the 5-cut method for testing squareness.Excellent video editing. Complete and concise, no wasted time.Improvements I will try:- give relief paths for the sawdust, chamfer the base of the blocks- find some way to micro-adjust the squareness of the base block before permanent fastening.
This seems just right for my recumbent trike. 'Bents can use a silly number of lights for visibility. Thank you!
Got it. Nice worktable. Love that Kreg fastening system. Now I understand why a 3-level platform for the miter saw is needed - similar level show in other builds.
Very useful! When I saw the last images holding long boards, it became obvious why you added a top plate to the brackets. It could be adapted for book shelves, wall-mounted desks, model train shelves, etc.I have difficulty lining up the chop saw blade with a pencil line - I would probably make a simple jig to keep my fingers out of the way - just a large scrap piece cut at the desired angle and clamped down. Then set the good piece against the jig. Now I want to see how you made that pretty chop saw table (hint hint)
Excellent light box! Thank you for this Instructable! It could be adapted for taking images of small items for eBay - no shadow, no glare. It has diffuse lighting, good color, and maintains the desired distance. Evenly distributed light with the proper color is a critical part of copying photos. White LEDs should satisfy almost all purposes. RGB LEDs could be adjusted for other spectrum distributions.

Is the miter saw spring loaded or must it be entirely removed to lower? If no springs, I'm gonna look into it. Those tools are getting too heavy for me to toss around.
Just saw the vid and you lif out the miter saw. 'k , some weight compensation will be my first contribution.
Very well written and photographed. It helps you included your mistakes - we all make them, it makes the project more approachable and tells us areas to be cautious. I'll try to make only new mistakes.

The ambulance has great merit, a type of vehicle I never considered. Many, many good ideas about conversions to campers. But back to ambulances - there are so many available! A search for "ambulance for sale" returned many commercial sites. They rarely come up in auto auctions but that is another possibility. If you find it and it fits your budget and abilities, nifty! Besides, there is a certain cachet driving a big white truck with orange stripes - sorta like Ghostbusters.
Sources of 12V fans: A car radiator fan uses 12V and is high flow. They are in various sizes and $19 to $40 new. You could get them for less from a car recycler. Purpose-build 12V fans for RV cooling are $19 to $150.Great ideas.I will wrap the 120v fan on our deck with screening - that should do it.
Beautiful work. The materials complement each other.Swinging towards a fire? Hmm. My family *would* burn their feet, though benches on the ground in the same setting would work for us. If I could do work that nice.
