Just make sure every possible source for leakage is covered with silicone. Happy pouring!

I was not accepted into the plastics contest with this project. :-(

Thanks! Do you think it fits the plastic contest rules?
Thank you very much. I was uncertain about the green at first, but really love it now.
Thank you and fair point. I did use the course threaded kreg screw, which is meant for soft woods and bites in a bit more, I think it should be fine.

Good question! So this piece of wood is spalted oak. I purchased it from a local saw mill. That's where I would suggest looking for any wood, at a saw mill versus a big box store. I would think the biggest consideration is whether you choose a closed or open grain type of wood. A more closed grain wood will allow the color to be more consistent across it. The open grain will show different affects with the dye, and may allow a situation where you can layer different dye colors. Its a bit of experimentation. sorry for the not so super concrete answer.
Definitely simple and pretty darn inexpensive. Most expensive part on the tray project were the handles. The dye doesn't cost too much and you need very little to get the job done.
