People have started calling it the selfie cube, so that's what I'm calling it now, though it doesn't take snapshots. Its function is pretty basic: If you look at it, it shows you an image of yourself. In that sense, it's kind of a needlessly complicated mirror.
If only, right? Well, soon there will be.
Thank you! I'm glad! :)
Of course! In my case, the camcorder didn't function, and I wasn't able to fix it, but if you have a functional camcorder, you could absolutely use it in a similar way. One thing to note is that for many camcorders, the viewfinder was an optional accessory. That's convenient because it means they unplug from the camcorder easily.

That's a point I really would like to stress -- as complicated as these freeform wiring projects look, it turns out they are actually pretty easy . The wires form and solder with so little trouble, and, at least for me, they help me lay out my circuit better. I always have a bit of trouble visualizing where to lay out jumpers and traces on a perfboard, but when I can work in a third dimension, it feels exponentially easier. I definitely recommend giving it a try!
