Wonderful planters. I would cover the inside sides and the wood that comes in contact with the ground with heavy plastic sheeting (I have some plastic carpet runners that would work too) to extend the life of the wood. I built a raised bed several years ago and that area was the first place the wood started to rot. You could also attach chicken wire, string netting, etc. to the upright privacy panels for vertical gardening -- pole beans, tomatoes, etc.Love your idea of screening to keep the birds away. I plan to try metal conduit bent into an inverted L shape with the shorter leg attached to the top of the privacy panel and the longer leg attached to the front of the planter to hold the screening.Great idea, can't wait to build some of your planters.
Your plan to use hinging panels has me intrigued Please post a how to on those when you make them..
