    The reason I used a PMOS transistor instead of an NMOS, like i think you are suggesting, is because a PMOS will have less of a voltage drop when the power is delivered to the pi (this is critical as I don't want undervoltage). A better circuit would be to have an inverter in this spot but I didn't have another NMOS power transistor on hand. The resistor is needed so that the PMOS gate is not floating when the switch is open. I choose a 10k resistor because it was a common resistor but it will leak 0.5mA like you said. This doesn't cause to much of a problem considering you have a 10,000mAh (50Wh) battery. This resistor will burn 2.5mW so the device could last for 20,000 h before it's drained. You are welcome to add a bigger resistor, it is just needed to make sure the node doesn't float...

If you link to the website I have up top I discuss an alternative power circuit which was the original plan. I had to scrap it as I had barely any room available. That's why I did this simple version.

    yes I experience this on the pi 3. However, I disable the lightning bolt icon since its annoying to see. Seems to run fine for most games!
