Railroad spikes are a soft metal and wouldn't make a very good hammer. Next time you are standing near some old railroad tracks I bet you will see the impacts from hammers used to drive them in the railroad tie.
I tiled my bathroom and kitchen 2 years ago and it was my first time personally using a tile saw. As for water. The tile saw should come with its own water pump and tubing. You just have to make sure the pump is submerged and the tubes are pumping water freely. 1 key difference between a table saw and a tile saw is direction of cutting. If a table saw binds up on the material the blade will kick it back at you (DON'T BE IN THE WAY!!!) Tile saws cut away from you so if the material binds up the saw will jump on top of the tile and pull it and the sled away from you... make sure your fingers are clear of the blade and that no one is walking behind the machine. I learned this the hard way when we moved from Ceramic tile in the bathroom to porcelain in the kitchen (kept my fingers attached)...

I learned this the hard way when we moved from Ceramic tile in the bathroom to porcelain in the kitchen (kept my fingers attached). Most of my cuts were straight except for around the 50s erra tub that had some swoops to it. I found it easy to use the blade like a grinder and get some nice flowing lines on the tile to match up with the tub. Just remember that grout is your friend and can cover some mistakes.

Very cool... any idea of a weight limit that this would support? I assume 4 adults or 6 small children would be about the limit on this thing.
but how does it do on a hard cheese like an Aged Gouda... its hard to cut that stuff with a steel blade.

I am a little obsessed with dewalt too... At some point they had made a hybrid contractor table saw but now all they have is the little Job Site saws (of which I have... missed out on the craigslist post on a hybrid)

You could prevent the clamps from marking the the last laminated edge if you used the other side of your sine wave to clamp the whole thing together. This would also mean that you could use fewer clamps since you don't need the clamp to force the wood into the shape.
Very cool. but one question... Who needs that many 9 volt batteries? My problem with batteries are these kids toys that require 3 AA batteries... why 3? Batteries are not sold in packs of 3!!!!!

Build Your Own Electric Car!
this would require 2 motors (one for each wheel). You then have to make sure the motors operate at the same speed. If one moves faster than the other you will cause the car to pull to one side and probably destroy the other motor and Tire. using the transmission means you don't have to redesign the front end to accommodate two Motors
