Thanks for pointing that out. I must have missed that.

Excellent work. I like the tip about making the batteries accesible from the front. You may also want to consider adding physical switches to the front of the box so that the switches can be acutated manually without a phone.

It looks like you don't have the correct library installed. The author is using this library:https://github.com/fdebrabander/Arduino-LiquidCrys...

The issue with the potentiometers feeling "faceted" is an issue with your map function:xtemp = map(analogRead(sxpot), 0, 1023, 0, 180);This is taking the relatively large precision of the potentiometers and shrinking it. You could use the "writeMicroseconds()" function built into the servo library to get a greater range. Here is the info: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Reference/ServoWriteMicr...This gives you a range of about 1000 values. When you write an angle to the servo from the library it is mapping that value of 0-180 to a value between 1000 and 2000. That range is much closer to that of your potentiometer so greater precision could be achieved.

Thanks for the response. I can understand your reasons for making the choices you did. I'm considering building a couple of these as gifts. If I do I hope to incorporate a small PTC heater. These types of heaters limit their heat once they reach a certain temp and require no control circuitry. I agree with other commenters that the air would be enough to dry the boots, but warm boots seems really appealing. If this happens I'll keep you posted on the results.

Awesome idea! I'm curious about how effective it is at drying out boots after a long day of sweaty feet. What happens if you only have one pair of boots to dry, is there a way to block the fan on the other pipes? Also curious if you considered a low temperature heater to speed the drying process. Obviously this would complicate the electronics and there are some invested safety concerns...

I really appreciate the analog solution in these days of digital everything. I'm not certain that this is for everyone, but this is an elegant design. Being a very particular person myself I understand the drive to create something that specifically fits my needs regaurdless of other potential solutions.

I agree with everything you said. Also note that you used the term "usually" as in not always. Both of statements are in agreeance, all I'm saying is that without specs it is uncertain.
View Instructable »True, but what if the extra load is outside the capacity of the PSU? Without a lot of reverse engineering you can't know for sure. 99% chance that it wouldn't cause any issues, but I digress. 120 isn't anything to be afraid of if you take the proper precautions. Great instructable!

This idea could be really cool if you take a thin layer of darker wood and laminate it on top before doing the routing (even just a 1/8" veneer). This would give a more dynamic range to the land vs the bay.Good work. What scene shop are you working out of?

It was around 4ft long. Seemed to work well, but if you need more leverage a slightly longer handle would help with that.

Awesome build! This thing looks like fun.I wanted to point out that the eye bolts you used are prone to failure. I've attached a picture below of some testing we did on bent eye screws. This one started to fall around 220 lbs, it was 3/8". I've also included a picture of the test run we used.Instead I highly suggest purchasing forged eye bolts. They cost a little more but it looks like you only used 2. Here's a link: https://www.e-rigging.com/three-eighths-inch-X-2-half-inch-Shoulder-Eyebolt
