RC Car --- RC Plane?

Okay, so today at school, we learned about Bernoulli's principle and how wings help a plane fly. So I was wondering, if you built some good wings, attached them to an RC Car, and drove it off a ramp, would it glide for a little bit?

RC Noob

I've never done much work with RC control, and i want to build a little rc car with tank steering (2 motors, one on a wheel on each side so steering can be accomplished by which motor is on).  I know I need a transmitter and a reciever (I dont know specifics of each :P).  All I know is that i want to PWM the motors and control with 2 home made H-bridges (motors require max current of 30 amps, so commercially made ESR's are too expensive) and control it via rc. I just really dont know what im looking for in the rc world.

Guide to RC? Answered

So don't tell me to go and buy a small RC car, and hack it. I want to know how to MAKE one! Like, totally MAKE! Where can I find out where to make a simple 2-4 channel RC thingermabob with a range of about 50 feet? I just don't get it, everywhere I look, they make these huge units. My helicopter is 6 channels and the circuit board is no bigger than 2x2, and only has 2 IC's on it. Why can't I find instructions for some small and simple like the circuits you find in RC car! What about Zip Zaps! Their circuit boards are tiny, and work better then the huge circuits you find online! Thx!

rc project

I decided to go for the rc car. I'm using the 1/5 scale  maxstone trying to combine it with the raspberry pi. I'm also using adafruit's pwm. I know this might be old to others but it is new to me. I am a beginner and I am very excited about it!    I am open to any suggestions, comments, feedback, links, anything would be great!

Rc airplane.

I am starting to design the rc airplane I will build for my senior project. I need help on wing loading and how wide I should make the wing (not wingspan) here's what I have so far: 1. at least a five foot wingspan 2. Twin engine (electric) 3. The estimated weight of the electronics is two kilograms. 4. The estimated weight of the fiberglass for the whole plane should be around four kilograms. 5. Plane will have twin rudders as well and most likely be a belly landed. I also need help on props, engine power, and wing diameter. if I need to specify anything please ask. many thanks    Zach

Rc airplane trouble. Answered

The motor for my rc airplane won't move. It's just not turning on. The airplane is the hobby zone super cub  part number HBZ7100. I've checked the output for the motor and it's reading full voltage ( I'm assuming 9v is full) and I've even changed the motor. Please help as I need an airplane to fly while I'm making my new one.  Thanks, bud P.S. I will specify anything, just ask

Wifi RC Chassis?

There are lots of rc cars out there, with wifi linking capabilities, but I was wondering whether you could be in one house connected to wifi, and controlling a chassis/rc car in another house without using Arduino.  (I'm really bad at electronics).  The reason being, I want to build a Mobile Virtual Presence Device with a fairly large stable chassis that can be controlled from somewhere else.  If you can name a way to do this, I would appreciate it. Thanks! -Finzaz

I'm thinking i could get away with just having a stabalizer fin in place of the rudder.  Any help from you pros? Thanks, Bud

RC helicopter cinematography

Both RC helicopters and DSLRs have shown some amazing advances and when they're combined the results are amazing. Eric Austin has a company called Heli Video that specializes in this with a helicopter-mounted Canon 7D and the footage rocks. With a free-roaming helicopter he can get shots that swoop in and out and then look down from above without any need for a crane or anything else. There are also no mistakes allowed as a crash means several thousand dollars worth of gear get wrecked. Check out the first video to see what this technique can do and the second for a view of the helicopter at work. via Core77

DIY RC toys? Answered

Just a bit of background, as a bit of fun and a learning (LOTS of learning) exercise, I'd like to make myself an RC tank, ie: http://woodgears.ca/tracked_vehicle/index.html I've aimed pretty high with this one though, as I've no experience with Remote Control applications, though I'm fairly comfortable with electronics. I was hoping for an overview of what I will require (transmitter, receiver, servos, etc) and good places to look for these components, so I can move on to actually planning. Thanks in advance.

RC boat rebuild

I have a bit of a dilemma with an old rc boat that I'm retrofitting with the board from a cheap rc car that I bought at walmart. The boat is meant to run on two 9.6 volt motors, but the radio board is designed to only handle 6 volts. Is there anyway to utilize the motor leads from the board to trigger some sort of circuit that would allow the board to use it's original 6 volt power pack while supplying the motors with 9.6 volts from a separate battery?

So if anyone can give me some serious direction and helpful information on how to start and possible parts that would be great. Also could i just purchase an instruction manual for a kit and buy the parts individually instead of the kit and upgrade certain parts. thanks very much and no clever comments about how to use google my self i have tried but it just keeps sending me to self build kits and this forum site with other questions about self build kits thanks again

Rc Airplane Guide

I have been thinking about building an R/C airplane. Here are the specifications I need. L:3ft W:4ft H:6in ( 15 with prop and landing gear Engine: Chain saw motor Prop: 12in Control surfaces: 2 ailerons, elevator I don't know anything about R/C and here are my questions: 1.) How do you assemble an R/C system? 2.) What is needed to run 4 servos(3 control, 1 throttle)? 3.) Where should I buy stuff? 4.) What else should I know? I know how to connect servos to an air frame and everything, but I need to know how to connect a full R/C system together( receiver, servos, battery, etc.). Any help? Please. P.S. My air frame will be, a wing, a wooden dowel going to tail, tail, motor and muffler. I used this design because I have no weight added other than required materials.

Tiltrotor RC/UAV

So I posted this as a question a day ago, but I thought I might get a better discussion going here. The simplified version is that a friend and I are looking at designing a tiltrotor UAV or RC vehicle. As we are college students we don't have the disposable income that some people do, so we'll probably stick to a small RC vehicle just for the hell of it. Anyway, some ideas we've had for the project: Hardware: Folding for storage (see this link for reference: http://sportscarforums.com/gallery/data/748/v22_folded.jpg ) Coaxial rotor blades (unsure if this will have any affect during STOL but should help with VTOL Ducted Fan (a standard ducted tail rotor to provide the torque to keep the craft from rotating with the blades) Separate Batteries (dedicated batteries per each rotor, failing that, one large one for all systems) Amphibious Software: Auto-Hover (depending on the approach, I may be able to write a script to maintain a certain motor power level) Auto-Pilot (just basic stuff, like flying patterns and such, perhaps make it able to land itself when in VTOL) Additional: (totally unnecessary but cool nonetheless) Micro-Camera Laser-Directional Microphone Laser Range Finder So anyone have any suggestions? We were hoping to make this a reasonable size, as in the length of the fuselage being anywhere around 3 ft

How to change frequency on RC toys

Rc Servo motor trouble! Answered

I recently took apart a RC Jet Ski. Within the Jet ski there was a servo for the rudder. I Need to know what wire leading up to the RC servo motor do? (green and brown). If I were to take the wires and use them on something else what shall I control them with? My first thoughts were that sending an electrical current though the postive, would make it turn one way, and by the RC control, electrical currents could be past though postive and negative to make it turn left and right. I know what all of the other wires. Thanks Oscar

RC car ¨tuning¨

So I have an RC car and so does my friend and whenever we race them he always wins so I was thinking of maybe tuning it a bit (you know add an extra battery or something) so how can I tell how much voltage my circuit board and motor can take. The car itself uses a 12v battery and is fully digital (you can go slowly or quickly and you can turn only a bit or all the way, you know what i mean) I can provide some photos of the circuit board if that helps, just ask.I know that RC cars are a bit childish but when Im older I want a job involving cars so thats a good place to get started =]

replacement transmitter for an rc helicopter?
