Why my quadcopter is oscillating and crashing after taking off? Answered

Hi guys,

I am new to this multirotor domain. We are strugling with our first F450 quad. Below are the specs:

1. F450 quadcopter chassis
2. KK2.1 Flight controller.
3. FLYSKY CT6B --- 6 channel radio transmitter
4. 1400 KV Brushless motor
5. 30 amps ESC
6. Lipo battery

Firstly the quad was not taking off properly. More over, after activating self level mode also, the quad is not at all stable. If we max up the throttle, then it flips in one side and crashes. Otherwise, it takes off from the ground upto 1-2 feet if we slowly increase the throttle and then oscillates and to avoid crash, we then decrease the throttle.

Please see the video HERE for more reference. Please guys, really need your help in this matter. We are not able to understand exactly what is wrong with our quad.

We have already calibrated our ESC's and the Accelarometer but no luck. Please help guys.

Thanks for the reply. We double checked everything. All are well connected. But the issue is when we are sliding up the throttle, its taking off and then starts to oscillate.

Please help guys.

With rotors and motors in order, the flight controller becomes the next suspect. I Googled KK2.1 manual and checked the manuals. In “KK2.1 & KK2.1.5 Instruction Manual – Hobbyking“, under “PI Editor” (page 4), there is a link for tuning https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNzqTGEl2xQ. Watch the first segment. It looks a lot like your video and has no relationship to operator flight capabilities. The manual has a PI gain adjustment process. There were even web references to setting each ESC individually but if you can get results as a group, why do it?

You may need to do some additional reading. I Googled KK2.1 tuning and this was one of the more interesting results. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2067758

Read first, plan, then do. And remember what you did so you can undo it if it doesn't work.

You need to try to find out if ;

A] The ESC is a problem controller or

B] Poor power wiring with bad uneven point to point distribution or

C] One motor (may be two) needs to spin other way with a different prop..
